Pierre Gauthier is in his fourth season as Director of Player Personnel after joining the Chicago Blackhawks in July 2012. He previously spent nine seasons with the Montreal Canadiens organization, most recently as General Manager from 2010 to 2012. Gauthier also served as Assistant General Manager and as Director of Professional Scouting during his time with the Canadiens.

Gauthier, a Montreal native, began his career in the Quebec Nordiques organization, where he spent 12 seasons, serving as Amateur Scout from 1981 to 1988 and as Chief Amateur Scout from 1988 to 1993. He then worked with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim for six seasons, serving as Assistant General Manager from 1993 to 1995. Following three seasons as General Manager of the Ottawa Senators from 1995 to 1998, he returned to the Mighty Ducks organization as President and General Manager from 1998 to 2002.

Gauthier has made his mark on the international hockey scene. Along with Bob Gainey and Bobby Clarke, he was one of three General Managers for Team Canada at the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano. He also served as Team Canada’s GM for the gold medal-winning team at the 1997 World Championship in Finland and the silver medal-winning team at the 1996 World Championship in Austria, in addition to acting as Team Canada’s Assistant GM for the silver medal-winning team at the 2009 World Championship.
